weekly wishes
the photo theme for this week is:
selfies
i honestly don't take many selfies because i actually despise taking pictures. but i was on the way to the concert and really liked the mascara i'd used, so i snapped one at a stoplight.
responsible driving?
not so much.
but there WAS a dude beside me at the light literally putting in contacts.
CONTACTS!!!!
last week's goal was to do something everyday that made me happy, and i was just so damn happy that i didn't get to take pictures of anything. so i guess you will just have to take my word for it!
monday: i drank my first full glass of wine after 3 weeks without a drop. it was phenomenal AND i am happy to report that my portion control has made leaps and bounds. i didn't actually have to measure the wine (like i usually do) to keep from overindulging, and i haven't had another glass since!
tuesday: i went to chipotle and demolished a low-carb burrito bowl. i haven't had chipotle since maybe april of this year and it was worth every flipping cent.
wednesday: i gave my hair a nice deep treatment with naturelle grow marshmallow root deep conditioner (review coming tomorrow!), and my hair was very happy. doing my hair is always so therapeutic!
thursday: i began making plans for two epic events that are occurring in the next two weeks. one is this friday's halloween party get-together, and the other is an unplugged weekend inspired by lisa's awesome seaside getaway. more details on both later!
friday: i embarrassed the crap out of my students while chaperoning the student council halloween dance. i also did helpful things like decorate and delegate tasks, but i made sure i also got really close to all of them when i decided to bust some serious moves. they were mortified. score one for me!
saturday: i went to my first-ever belly dancing class. i have been wanting to learn how to belly dance for quite some time and was super pumped to go. i looooooved it! i have another class set up for next week :)
sunday: i lounged around and watched hulu. i discovered "fugget about it," which i really loved and wished there were more than the 13 episodes i watched all in one sitting (no judgey). i also got around to drinking my pumpkin pie frankenwater, and unlike the caramel apple and orange mango flavors, i found it cloyingly sweet after the first couple sips of amazement.
in the spirit of keeping things simple, my wishes for this week are simple and things i should be doing anyway.
1) recommit to #teamnobuy. i haven't bought anywhere near as much as i usually would've if i weren't on the challenge, but i've had A LOT of slip-ups. i need to remind myself that i am saving for a purpose and that if i just HAVE to buy something, it must be because it is an essential item.
2) recommit to looking halfway decent during the week. living the single life has its perks, but it also has the downside of not really having someone for whom to look nice/hold you accountable to not looking busted. my morning routine takes all of 25 minutes, and i definitely look it. i'm always neat, clean, and professional but definitely plain jane. this week, i am going to try to add in another five minutes to at least put on a coat of mascara and maybe some tinted moisturizer. my nails could use some attention, too...

sounds like an awesome week! :) i've always wanted to try belly dancing too! was it a good workout? i haven't heard of team no buy.. but i'm trying to do something similar too and doing 100 days of no spending. hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYES!
DeleteThe workout was AMAZING!!!
And I have a post about my no-buy challenge. Basically, I wasn't supposed to be spending money on anything besides groceries and other essentials. As you can see, I went to Chipotle last week, so I have been on the struggle bus lately... lol.
awesome selfie. you were right, your mascara is amazing. also, that guy putting in his contacts is a danger to humanity, although probably best he drives with his contacts. if only he'd remember to put them on BEFORE he left. anyhow, happy weekly wishing hun! xox.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really like it, but I didn't put on enough. My lashes are so thin! Ugh!
DeleteAnyway, yes, I am nervous thinking about how far he drove without the contacts. I was like wtheck?!
It can be so darn hard not to buy the little things you want- I just always seem to forget that those little things add-up! I'm right there on team #nobuy with you, sister!
ReplyDeleteYes! Frugal Fannies unite!
DeleteYou shouldn't shy away from selfies--you're gorgeous!!! BTW, I use to take belly dance. It was always a fun class. Enjoy it!

Eek! *blush*
DeleteGorgeous? That's a new one haha. :)
Belly dancing is SO FUN! I had an instructor that focused more on cardio than on technique so it was an awesome workout. And I just came back from a Bollywood class with her. SO FUN!!!
Putting contacts? At first, I chuckled then I realized that he was blind as a bat AND driving while putting lenses on his eyeballs. That is just too much for my "old lady" sensibilities. You, however, look lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy jaw literally dropped when I saw it. I cannot believe anyone would drive one foot knowing their vision is impaired! How ridiculous can you get?!
DeleteAnd enough of that "old lady" stuff. As my grandma would say, you're a spring chicken!
wine is always friggin worth it, I don't even care about the cals!
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't give two flying furballs about the calories.
DeleteWhat I do care about is not drinking a whole bottle in one sitting.
Which is what I used to do.
Hence the portion control haha.
I think your selfie looks awesome. Your skin looks so flawless.
ReplyDeleteGirl, what is this #teamnobuy and how do I become a part of it? I am with you on that one, buying things is a problem for me and I need to work on getting my financial life in order.
As a single lady myself I can commiserate on not bothering to spend too much time getting ready bc there is no one there to appreciate it but the thing is, you never know when you'll meet that special someone and when you know you don't look your best you may not exude the confidence that attracts people to you. I try to put the little extra time in, in all honesty not to meet someone but because it feels great to feel pretty.
Good luck this week with all your wishes.

Thanks, girl!
Delete#teamnobuy is my attempt at saving some money so I won't be a broke grad student next year!
My big goals were to stop spending money eating out and going on random shopping sprees. I have a post about it, but I'm too lazy to look for it... lol.
And you are dead-on with your single lady thing. My mom tells me that all the time. But in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking that I'm afraid to meet some guy all dolled up because then maybe I will scare him away when I wash my face. I realize that is pretty ridiculous-sounding, but I'm pretty sure it goes back to this not feeling like I'm good enough for anyone thing I've harbored for a while. But I'm growing out of it!
Plus, mascara alone never pushed someone from a "5" to a "10" (I hate those ratings), so no fear of that happening if I keep it as simple as I want to (because I'm also really lazy... lol)
Thanks for your comment!
Girl what on earth do you do to your skin to keep it so flawless?! Jealous much!
ReplyDeleteGood luck for your wishes, recently I've been so good with not spending the money as soon as it lands in my hands! Find it so so difficult though :(
Have fun with your Halloween plans.
Becky xx
I don't know! My skin is actually in the worst condition it's ever been so I definitely can't give you any advice :(
