fitness friday #13: staying fit on a cruise vacation

as a newbie cruiser, i really didn't have any idea about the countless options for activities on-board until i perused some cruise ship photos last weekend.

i was utterly surprised at the fact that the cruise ship is almost like a floating city! my standards were soooo low.
along with the grandeur of the ship comes a slew of ways to stay active and fit while on vacation for any price point.

cruise excursions: $$ - $$$
my best friend and i plan to hike the mayan ruins and participate in a multitude of water and land sports via our shore excursions. it's a great opportunity to experience the port country in an active and fun way.

on-board fitness classes: free - $$
i plan to take yoga classes while on board, and there are tons of other options as well. while excursions can be pricey, some classes are offered for free with a reservation.

on-board sports: free!
my cruise ship offers ice and inline skating, a jogging track, rock climbing, table tennis, basketball and volleyball tournaments, and simulated surfing. the best part: all of these are free and fun!
